It might have been a 4am start and a 1.30am return (21hr round trip) but it was great and made me so proud to see you all with your medals, trophies and Championships places

O’Dwyer Academy Open Feis 19 September 2010
Our Feis has been confirmed for Sunday 19 September 2010 at the Miners Welfare Institute Rainsworth. There will be the following levels:
First Feis, Primary, Intermediate and Open.
First Feis is a Beginners section: Trophy Reel, Light Jig, Slip Jig and Hop Jig. Strictly for very basic steps and does not include a heavy section.
Primary, Intermediate and Open Sections, will dance Reel, Light Jig, Slip Jig, Hop Jig, Heavy Jig, Hornpipe.
For Primary dancers - basic steps only, skips, hops, 123’s, front clicks, quarter/half turns, side steps. Dancers undertaking more advanced steps will be asked to leave the stage and dance in the Intermediate Section.
No toe walking, make up or fake tan for sections up to and including 11 & U.
Sections will be 5 & Under, 7 & Under, 9 & Under, 11 & Under, 13 & Under, 15 & Under, 16 & Over, age taken from the 01 Jan 2010. There will also be a Trophy Rally Reel (Step down the line) Trophy Traditional Set. Trophy competition in each section will be:
Trophy Reel Primary section only),
Intermediate Premiership (Slip Jig and Hornpipe),
Open Championship (Those competing in the Open Championship, must have the following 4 dances in the Open Section: Reel, Slip Jig, Heavy Jig & Hornpipe, and should not have competed in the Intermediate Premiership)
Cost of entry Solo’s £2.50, Trophy Competitions £4.00, Premierships £5.50 and Open Championships £7
Closing Date for entry is Friday 10 September 2010. Entries to your dance teacher stating you name, age, date of birth, list of solo dances and trophy/ Premiership
/Championship entered with the correct fees asap.
Bassetlaw Dance Event:
Bassetlaw Council are holding a Dance event in Retford Town Centre on Saturday 24 July, and we have been asked for dancers to put on a display. If you would like to take part, please tell your dance teacher. You will be required from 11.00 – 2.00pm
Clipstone Carnival:
At the Clipstone Carnival on the 31 July we are holding a fund raising event and would appreciate your help. We are hoping to have a ‘bits and bobs stall, but need items, (in good condition) that we could sell on our stall.
Toys, dolls, soft toys, games, books, children’s clothes and bric a brac. If you have anything that we could have, please bring it to your child’s next dance class. All funds raised will go towards the cost of our Feis which is being held on the 19 September.
We also need dancers to take part in a display at this Carnival. You will need to be at the site at 11.15 until 2.00pm. If you would like to take part, please tell your dance teacher
A note from the Treasurer
Dance fees due first class of each month.
Could I please ask parents to ensure that August fees are paid promptly and if you are going on holiday end of July first 2 weeks of August we would appreciate your August fees at the last class you attend in July so as to ensure all fees are kept up to-date thank you.
August Dance Classes:
Please note all dance classes will run as normal during
August. Missed lessons due to holiday’s can be made up at any class (see above) just tell your teacher which class you wish to attend. If you are away towards the end of July first two weeks in August please pay your August Fees at your last dance class in July (see above)
REMEMBER:
Dance classes continue as normal throughout the summer, Clipstone fundraising items needed, Fees for August to be paid at the end of July and Feis entry for our Feis in September asap..
