Classes

Irish Dance Classes are held at the following locations:
North Nottinghamshire: Ollerton, Wellow, Walesby, Tuxford, Retford, Clipstone, Rainworth and Ordsall.
Lincolnshire: North Hykham
International Classes are held in:
USA:  Washington State:  Yakima and Selah

What to wear at classes:

All dancers must wear the Academy dance practice costume which comprises of a gold coloured polo shirt with Academy logo and either a white or navy pleated skirt with cycle short underneath for girls    Boys must wear navy shorts with the Academy polo shirt as the girls.  All girls must wear white poodle socks and boys white socks. (Class costumes available from dance teachers.)
Those attending for the first time should wear either shorts and a t.shirt or leggings and t.shirt and wear soft shoes such as plimsolls (not trainers) Unifroms will be needed once dancers have attended for four weeks.  All dancers should arrive no earlier then 10 minutes prior to the start of the lesson and must change quickly to ensure lessons commence on time.

Dance Fees:

Dance fees are £6.50 for a one hour lesson and can be paid in the following way:
Weekly at a cost of £6.50 per lesson
Monthly £21 per month x 12 monthly payments ( a saving of between £5-£6.50 per month)  
Termely £80 per term.
Fees are calculated on a 48 week year and are payable even if the dancers misses a class due to illness or holiday. (Missed lessons can be made up, speak with the dance teacher concerned to arrange missed lessons)
Should a dancer wish to leave the Academy a months' notice in writing must be given or a months' fees in leiu of notice is payable with no exception.

Parents Involment:

We encourage all our dancers to take part in both Class and Open Platform Feis's regardless of level of the dancer (Beginner, Primary, Intermediate or Open), but please remember Feis entry fees are payable in advance and must be paid in cash, cheques are not acceptable and Feis fees are non-refundable.

We value our parents participation within the Academy.  In October 2008 we set up the O'Dwyer Academy of Irish Dance Association (OAIDA) in which we have an elected committee to help with events and fund raising activities.  Members of the Association serve for a period of 5 years.

The Association also decided along with the dance teachers, unlike many other Irish Dance Academies and Schools, to actively encourage parents to sit and watch their childs dance lesson.  By doing this it was felt that parents could watch  the development of their child in dance and also encourage their child to work at home to improve steps learnt.

Situated just of the Worksop to Retford Road about 10 mins from B & Q Warehouse at Worksop and 5 Mins from Retford Town Centre.
